Melbourne Airport to Melbourne CBD Hotels: Complete Transfer Guide

2026 Australian concert transport guide

5 Seconds of Summer Australia 2026: Complete Concert Transport Guide

Plan airport, hotel, venue and post-show travel for the Everyone’s A Star! World Tour across five Australian cities.

Tour snapshot: 5 Seconds of Summer are scheduled to play Brisbane on 28 October, Sydney on 30 October, Melbourne on 2 November, Adelaide on 4 November and Perth on 6 November 2026. Confirm the final venue information and running times before travel.

The Australian leg moves quickly across five cities, which makes it attractive to interstate fans and travellers attending more than one show. Each stop has different airport geography, venue access and late-night public transport. A single generic “concert transfer” plan will not fit them all.

Start with the ticket, then add flights, accommodation, luggage and the return journey. Public transport may be the best event-night option for many fans. A pre-booked private transfer can be useful for airport links, hotel movements, families and groups that want a planned meeting point.

A different plan for every city

Brisbane: Riverstage is an outdoor venue in the City Botanic Gardens. Plan for walking, weather and the correct entry point. Brisbane Airport, the CBD hotel and Riverstage form three separate locations; do not leave the airport-to-hotel leg until arrival.

Sydney: Afterpay Arena is in Sydney Olympic Park, not central Sydney. Fans staying in the CBD need a deliberate journey west and a post-show return. Use AT247’s concert transfer guide and Sydney Airport transfer page.

Melbourne: Rod Laver Arena sits within Melbourne & Olympic Parks. CBD and Southbank hotels may be close, but the airport arrival still starts at Tullamarine. AT247’s Melbourne Airport transfer page helps price the direct hotel journey.

Adelaide and Perth: check each venue’s event-day advice. Kings Park is not an enclosed CBD arena, so gate, walking, weather and pickup instructions require particular attention. A normal daytime map pin may not match concert access.

Flying in for the show

A same-day flight creates a dependency the concert organiser cannot control. Allow for disembarkation, baggage, ground transport, hotel check-in and venue entry. If the flight is delayed, the concert will not wait. Travelling the day before adds resilience and makes luggage storage easier.

If arriving on the day, decide whether to go directly to accommodation or elsewhere. Venues generally restrict large bags, and an airport suitcase should not be taken to the gate without confirming the rules. Use the correct flight number, terminal and traveller’s mobile in the transfer booking. The Sydney Airport pickup guide provides an example of the level of detail required.

Public transport is often effective for large events, but attendees must check the final service plan and be comfortable with the walk. Self-driving offers control before the show but can create a slow exit. Taxi and rideshare availability is least predictable when thousands request a trip together.

A private booking gives the party a vehicle and meeting plan in advance, while remaining subject to the same legal road access. Compare the trade-offs in AT247’s private transfer versus rideshare guide and transfer versus shuttle guide.

Post-show pickup without confusion

Do not use the advertised performance finish as an exact road pickup time. Leaving a seated arena, general-admission floor or outdoor venue takes time. Temporary restrictions may require a walk to the approved collection zone.

Agree on one location and one group contact before entering. Make sure the phone is charged and able to receive calls. Follow event staff directions, and never ask a vehicle to stop in a bus lane, closed road or unsafe position. If the party separates, use a fallback meeting place.

Groups, families and merchandise

Fans travelling together should compare the total party cost rather than one seat. Count luggage and likely purchases as well as passengers. A vehicle with enough seats can still lack boot capacity. Review AT247’s minivan guide and minibus guide for group requirements.

Families should request child restraints in advance and consult the child-seat transfer guide. Accessibility ticketing, venue assistance and road vehicle needs are separate: contact the venue for entry support and describe mobility equipment in the transport request.

Travelling to more than one show

The tour moves from Brisbane to Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth in quick succession. Fans following multiple dates should create a separate local itinerary for each city. Record local flight times, terminals, hotel addresses and venues; do not copy a Sydney pickup note into a Melbourne booking.

Build recovery time into the route. A late show followed by an early flight creates a chain that can unravel if the concert, stadium exit or road journey runs late. A later service may cost more but produce a much more robust trip.

Choosing a hotel for the concert

Venue proximity is only one factor. An Olympic Park hotel simplifies Sydney concert night, while a CBD property may suit sightseeing. In Melbourne, the CBD and Southbank can both work for Rod Laver Arena. Brisbane’s Riverstage is central, while Perth’s Kings Park requires attention to the correct event entrance.

Use the complete hotel name and address because chains operate multiple properties. Ask about luggage storage if flights fall outside check-in and checkout times. Never plan to carry airport suitcases into the venue without written confirmation that they meet the bag policy.

Protect the return flight

Work backward from the airline’s recommended airport arrival and add checkout, luggage retrieval, the entire road or public-transport journey and a contingency. Confirm the terminal before leaving and keep the traveller’s phone active. Friends on different flights may be better served by separate pickups.

5SOS concert travel checklist

  • Correct city, date and venue
  • Final gate, entry and running-time information
  • Flight number, terminal and local arrival date
  • Full hotel name, address and entrance
  • Passenger, luggage and merchandise capacity
  • Weather plan for outdoor venues
  • Legal post-show pickup point and charged phone
  • Return trip to the airport

When the itinerary is complete, read how to book quickly and the stress-free airport transfer guide.

The final pre-show check

Review the official venue page 48 hours before each concert and again on the day. Outdoor shows need an especially current weather and access check. Save the ticket, hotel address and meeting point offline in case mobile data becomes unreliable.

If the promoter changes an entry time or a flight is rebooked, tell the transport provider promptly. One nominated organiser should keep the final version and ensure the group is waiting at the agreed location rather than spread across several venue exits.
