WSI at a glance

A brand new airport on the edge of the city, open all night.

Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport is Australia's first major greenfield airport in more than half a century. WSI says over 65% of Sydney suburbs are within a 45-minute drive. For the Eastern Suburbs, the North Shore and the Northern Beaches, it's a long run west, so plan it rather than assuming it works like Mascot.

Getting there

What each option really involves.

Driving and parking

Premium and Saver parking in P1 and P2 is about a three-minute walk from the terminal; Long-stay P4 has a free shuttle. Launch rates run to the end of April 2027, and three hours' free parking is offered for a limited time from 26 October. Someone still drives home after a long flight.

Public buses

Since 5 July, buses run every 30 minutes from 5:00am to 10:00pm to and from Penrith, Leppington, Liverpool, Campbelltown and Mount Druitt.

Free shuttle from St Marys

A free bus between St Marys Station and the terminal kerb, every 30 minutes, taking about 30 minutes. It runs until the Metro opens. Flights landing after the last bus need another option.

Sydney Metro (2027)

A 23 km line connecting WSI to St Marys, about 15 minutes end to end. It isn't running when the airport opens.

Super Shuttle WSI

An all-electric shared bus to Parramatta CBD, Sydney CBD and Sydney Airport, booked online and timed to flights. You still get from the stop to your door.

Rideshare and taxis

Taxi ranks and pick-up zones operate from day one. Uber has an exclusive zone with 10 kerbside bays about 100 m from the terminal, and WSI shares flight schedules with Uber to help match drivers to demand.

Rideshare or a pre-booked chauffeur?

Six questions to ask before you fly from a brand new 24-hour airport.

Do you know what car is coming?

On demand, you get the nearest car in your category when you request it. Pre-booked, you choose the sedan, SUV or people mover in advance, confirmed before you fly.

Will a car be there at 1am?

WSI never closes. Nobody yet knows how on-demand supply will look at a new airport on the city's edge in the small hours. A pre-booked car is assigned and tracking your flight before you take off.

Who's meeting you?

Rideshare is kerbside: you walk to the zone with your bags. A chauffeur comes inside, finds you in arrivals and takes the bags first.

How long is the drive home?

From much of Sydney, WSI is a 40 to 60-plus km motorway run, often at the start or end of a long travel day. Sit back and let someone else drive it.

Is there room for the luggage?

Pick an SUV for four suitcases or a people mover for the whole family, so nobody's squeezing bags into a hatchback.

Booking for someone else?

Book the traveller in, follow the car on a live tracking link and get one itemised GST tax invoice, with tolls and parking at cost.

All point-to-point transport in NSW, including taxis, rideshare and hire cars, operates under the state's safety rules. The difference is how each one works on the day.

  • 1Book ahead online or in the app. See your price in the instant quote, in under 60 seconds.
  • 2Add your flight number. The flight is tracked, so your chauffeur works to your actual landing time.
  • 3Meet your chauffeur inside the terminal, with your name on the sign. Driver details are texted once they're on the way.
  • 4Take your time. Free waiting time is 30 minutes for domestic and 60 minutes for international flights. Long customs queue? Add a driver delay.
  • 5Bags first, then doors. A short walk to the car and a quiet ride home in a late-model sedan, SUV or people mover.

Booking for an executive or a guest? Follow the car on a live tracking link, and get an itemised GST tax invoice with tolls and airport parking at cost. Ask about an account.

How WSI fits your side of the city.

Penrith, St Marys and the Blue Mountains

WSI is on your doorstep. A short private transfer beats paying for days of parking, and saves the drive up the mountain after a long trip.

Parramatta and the Hills

A straightforward run via the M4 or M7 and the M12. Ideal for business travellers from Parramatta offices and Norwest.

Liverpool, Campbelltown and Macarthur

Close by via the M7, the M12 and The Northern Road, with bus routes from Liverpool and Campbelltown for light travellers.

Sydney CBD and the Eastern Suburbs

Where a pre-booked chauffeur makes the biggest difference. Public transport means a train to St Marys and a shuttle, so a door-to-door car is the simplest way to make an early flight.

North Shore and Northern Beaches

A long trip across the city in either direction. Book ahead, add your flight number and let your chauffeur handle the motorway.

Wollongong, Southern Highlands and Central Coast

Long-distance transfers to and from WSI are available. Groups can share a people mover.
